Here, you will be able to enjoy a lifestyle as active as you please doing the things you love doing, and then relax and enjoy your surroundings.

Vibrant community close to the lake

RFBI Hawkins Masonic Village nestles in quiet bushland in the outer Newcastle suburb of Edgeworth, near beautiful Lake Macquarie, on 16 hectares of land donated by Albert Hawkins.

You will be enchanted by the beautifully maintained gardens, outdoor areas and courtyards overlooking the tranquil views. The village is just 3km from the F3 Freeway, 3km to Edgeworth shopping centre and 20km from the Newcastle city centre.

The men’s shed, open to all male residents, provides activities such as woodwork, metalwork, welding, toy making, model railway tasks and social functions.

There is a 20-seater village bus for shopping and sightseeing trips.

In 1968, local ambulance man Edgars Lideman saw the need for a retirement village in the area and approached local businessman Albert Hawkins for a donation. Albert Hawkins donated 40 acres (over 16 hectares) of village land and formed a partnership with RFBI.

The first buildings, Rose Court, consisting of 54 retirement living units, were completed in 1972. There are now 184 units across Rose, Waratah, Iris, Camellia and Orchid Courts.

In 2019, Boronia Court was closed to make room for a brand new state-of-the-art residential care village which includes many new amenities.
