Residential care: secure, compassionate assisted living

Whether the onset of health problems is gradual or sudden, if the need to seek assistance and comfort increases, RFBI Leeton Masonic Village can provide an assisted lifestyle which includes round-the-clock care.

We are well aware that the decisions involved cause rising levels of concern both personally and for your loved ones. You will find us completely attuned to your needs, and dedicated to helping both you and your family adapt to the many changes ahead.

You can count on our compassionate and caring staff to listen to your needs in detail and provide the right options for you.

Friendly community in the heart of the Riverina Region

Your new home at RFBI Leeton Masonic Village is located in the Riverina Region, about halfway between Sydney and Melbourne. Leeton was the first town built as part of the Murrumbidgee Irrigation Area and was designed with the help of Walter Burley Griffin. Known as Australia’s Rice Town, Leeton has won many awards in the Keep Australia Beautiful competition.

The village is conveniently close to shops and transport. There is also an on-site shop for your convenience. The village 10-seater bus heads off regularly for shopping trips, outings and excursions.

Whether you want to quietly relax in one of our beautifully landscaped gardens or prefer a more active lifestyle, it is all here for you.

Choose from our active social calendar; regular activities include: cooking, music, hand and foot massage, aromatherapy, manicures and pedicures, quizzes, church services, physical therapy, walks, bingo, indoor bowls, arts and crafts, afternoon tea and concerts. The local town library also provides a service to our residents.

We also have an on site medical consultation room to help maintain your health and wellbeing without the need to leave home.

Facilities

Everything you need is right here

RFBI Leeton Masonic Village offers all levels of residential care, including a memory support unit for those living with dementia.

Our residential care accommodation (Alf Herrmann Lodge) is all spacious, single en-suite rooms with reverse-cycle air conditioning in all rooms. In fact, all common areas are air-conditioned for your comfort.

You will also be able to relax in one of the many sitting rooms in each wing or take part in activities held daily — both in the Alf Herrmann Lodge and our memory support unit for those living with dementia.

Also for your convenience, the village provides an on-site hairdressing salon and our coffee shop, run by friendly local volunteers, so you can enjoy social times without leaving home.

Meals are prepared on site with main meals served in the large dining room. Our menu changes seasonally and we welcome your input, so we may include your favourites. Your visitors are also invited to enjoy a meal with you at a minimal charge.

The government will use your means assessment to determine what you will pay for your accommodation. If the government identifies that you require financial support, they will determine what, if any contribution you are required to make towards your accommodation costs. If you are not supported, you will be required to pay the published room price. There are a number of ways in which you may choose to pay for your accommodation:

  • As a lump sum, called a Refundable Accommodation Deposit (RAD)
  • A daily payment, called a Daily Accommodation Payment (DAP) (indexed twice per year) or
  • Combination of refundable deposit and daily payment
  • Part lump sum with the daily payment drawn down from the lump sum paid

The same payment options are available to supported residents in how they pay for their accommodation contribution.

Daily Accommodation Payments are indexed twice per year in line with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) and an annual retention amount of 2% will be deducted from refundable deposits (RAD/RAC) for up to 5 years.

Higher Everyday Living Fee (HELF)

Residents may agree to enter into a Higher Everyday Living Agreement. The Higher Everyday Living options available at your RFBI Village will be provided to you on entry. You can take up HELF services at any time during your stay and have an option to cancel when the agreement is renewed each year.

For more information about Aged Care Fees and Charges you can visit the My Aged Care website or speak to one of our team members on 1800 181 959.

History

The building of RFBI Leeton Masonic Village started in 1998 with six independent living villas completed in 2000. In 2008, building works started on a residential care village to provide 50 rooms. Red Gum House, a dementia-specific unit, offers 26 of these rooms.

Dr Gregory Levensten MD JP officially named the residential care hostel Alf Herrmann Lodge at the foundation laying ceremony in 2009; it was opened in 2010 by Her Excellency Professor Marie Bashir AC CVO, Governor of New South Wales.

The first residents moved into the village in early 2010.
