As of the 1st July 2014, new residents have greater choice on how to pay for their accommodation costs. These choices include;
- Residents can choose to pay for accommodation by a refundable deposit (RAD) paid as a lump sum,
- A daily payment (DAP), or
- A combination of both
A daily payment accrues daily and is paid periodically (e.g. fortnightly). A combination payment includes both a partial lump sum and daily payments.
As RFBI offers a variety of accommodation options and prices we encourage you and your family to discuss your needs with a financial adviser to ensure that you are receiving the best financial outcome available to you.
Our published Accommodation Payment prices are our maximum rates and will apply for those with adequate financial means. Residents with limited assets may be eligible for support by the Department of Social Services.
This means that you will not be required to pay the published Accommodation Payment. If you are not supported, but affordability is still a factor, be assured this will not necessarily affect your eligibility for accommodation.
The Daily Accommodation Payment (DAP) amounts quoted above are current as of today and may change (in line with interest rate adjustments) for entry dates after the 1st July. When there are changes to the interest rate RFBI will update the new DAP’s based on the new quarterly interest rate.
Optional additional costs (ie not including the accommodation price for the room) associated with the room
Services that require an additional fee include hairdressing, physiotherapy and podiatry, phone connection and Foxtel connection.

In 1988, local Masons approached RFBI with a view to establishing a local Masonic Care Village. In 1989 a local committee was formed and, along with the RFBI, commenced work with on-site preparations, plans and construction.
In 1990 the first 30 retirement living units, together with a village hall, were completed and officially opened by Matt Singleton, Member for Coffs Harbour. The original nine-bed residential care village was officially opened by the Rt. Wor. Bro Frank M Jeffree OAM, PDG&M, in 1991. Four years later, it was extended by a further nine beds.
In 2001 20 more units were added and the village hall was extended to cater for the increase in residents. Late 2002 saw the completion of a new 61-bed residential care village. This was officially opened in 2003 by the Honourable Julie Bishop, then Minister for Ageing
