As of the 1st July 2014, new residents have greater choice on how to pay for their accommodation costs. These choices include;

  1. Residents can choose to pay for accommodation by a refundable deposit (RAD) paid as a lump sum,
  2. A daily payment (DAP), or
  3. A combination of both

A daily accommodation payment accrues daily and is paid periodically (e.g. fortnightly). A combination payment includes both a partial lump sum and daily.

As RFBI offers a variety of accommodation options and prices and we encourage you and your family to discuss your needs with a financial adviser to ensure that you are receiving the best financial outcome available to you.

Our published Accommodation Payment prices are our maximum rates and will apply for those with adequate financial means. Residents with limited assets may be eligible for support by the Government. If you are not supported but affordability is still a factor, be assured this will not necessarily affect your eligibility for accommodation.

The Room Prices (RAD) and Daily Accommodation Payment (DAP) amounts quoted above are current as of today and may change (in line with interest rate adjustments) for entry dates after the 1st July. When there are changes to the interest rate, RFBI will update the new DAP based on the new quarterly interest rate.

Optional additional costs (ie not including the accommodation price for the room) associated with the room.

At this Village, we are pleased offer a range of services that you can access at an additional cost including hairdressing, café/kiosk purchases, telephone connection and line rental, WiFi, dry cleaning, pendant alarms and magazine or newspaper subscriptions.

For more information about Aged Care Fees and Charges you can visit the My Aged Care website or speak to one of our team members at 1800 181 959.

History

The Maitland Benevolent Society was first established in 1867 as a group of compassionate community members bonded together to raise money for those in need. Obtaining a small stake of real estate in the 1870s, The Maitland Benevolent Society offered shelter and support to the community, and soon the service began to grow. Providing much needed support and assistance in the Maitland area, the service continued to prosper and eventually developed a primary focus on aged care in the 1970s.

The Benhome Board Building was officially opened in April 2019 and is the product of many years of planning. $18 million was invested by The Maitland Benevolent Society Ltd to create a place where residents can receive the highest quality care and love to call home.  The capital development works included a complete refurbishment of the Eichholzer and Ribee Wings, a new front entrance, new kitchen and laundry facilities as well as the addition of 24 new resident rooms.

On 1 May 2019, RFBI assumed ownership and operational responsibility for Benhome residential aged care. Sharing a rich heritage of helping people in need and a passion for improving people’s lives, this acquisition will ensure the continued delivery of high quality care and services for older people in the Maitland area.
