As of the 1st July 2014, new residents have greater choice on how to pay for their accommodation costs. These choices include;

  1. Residents can choose to pay for accommodation by a refundable deposit (RAD) paid as a lump sum,
  2. A daily payment (DAP), or
  3. A combination of both

A daily payment accrues daily and is paid periodically (e.g. fortnightly). A combination payment includes both a partial lump sum and daily payments.

As RFBI offers a variety of accommodation options and prices we encourage you and your family to discuss your needs with a financial adviser to ensure that you are receiving the best financial outcome available to you.

Our published Accommodation Payment prices are our maximum rates and will apply for those with adequate financial means. Residents with limited assets may be eligible for support by the Department of Social Services.

This means that you will not be required to pay the published Accommodation Payment. If you are not supported, but affordability is still a factor, be assured this will not necessarily affect your eligibility for accommodation.

The Daily Accommodation Payment (DAP) amounts quoted above are current as of today and may change (in line with interest rate adjustments) for entry dates after the 1st July. When there are changes to the interest rate RFBI will update the new DAP’s based on the new quarterly interest rate.

Optional additional costs (ie not including the accommodation price for the room) associated with the room

Services that require an additional fee include hairdressing, physiotherapy and podiatry, phone connection and Foxtel connection.

History

Construction of RFBI Bathurst Masonic Village started in 1987 when 13 independent living villas were initially built. Due to high demand, a further eight independent living villas were completed in 1992.

The residential care village was opened in 1993 and, at that time, offered ten rooms. The village was extended by 20 rooms following further demand, and completed in 2003.  Fifteen additional beds and a significant refurbishment was completed in 2015.

The first resident was given the honour of naming the facility, and chose Cheriton, the name of a village in England, their homeland. The building still bears this name today.
