Your new home at RFBI Armidale Masonic Village is surrounded by the bushland and rural views for which the district is famous.
Armidale is a charming town nestled in the heart of the NSW Northern Tablelands. Known for its World Heritage-listed national parks, lush pastureland and cool climate gardens, it is just a two-hour drive from the coast.
Busy, bustling Armidale is a major regional city, offering all the amenities and services you need. The town offers a range of essential services and amenities, as well as a variety of recreational activities that cater to all interests. Regular shopping trips in our village bus take you there and back, looking after you all the way.
With the rest of your time, you can do as little or as much as you like; you'll be able to sit back and enjoy the gloriously peaceful vistas and the serenity of the beautiful, well-kept gardens. And there's plenty to do in the village too with organised concerts, fashion parades, parties, special occasions and more.

Your new home has a lounge and dining rooms, and on-site kitchen. You’ll enjoy a beautiful, rural outlook with elegant central courtyards. Your room offers you a convenient en-suite bathroom and views over the countryside. No matter what the weather, you’ll enjoy year-round comfort thanks to ducted air conditioning, both in your room and in the spacious common areas and sitting rooms in each wing.
There are lots of peaceful gardens and common areas where you can simply relax.
Other services available include the hairdressing salon, activities room, hydrotherapy spa bath, resident/ family kitchenette and library.

Your generously sized bedroom comes complete with built-in wardrobes, built-in desk/bench top, full electric bed and a nurse-call system.
An en-suite complete with walk-in shower, toilet, vanity, wall cabinet, ceiling heater and call button completes your personal space.
Picture rails circle the walls for you to hang artwork or photos of loved ones to personalise your room and we hope you will bring in treasured furniture or ornaments from home to make your new room feel familiar. A TV antenna outlet is provided for your convenience.

The government will use your means assessment to determine what you will pay for your accommodation. If the government identifies that you require financial support, they will determine what, if any contribution you are required to make towards your accommodation costs. If you are not supported, you will be required to pay the published room price. There are a number of ways in which you may choose to pay for your accommodation:
- As a lump sum, called a Refundable Accommodation Deposit (RAD)
- A daily payment, called a Daily Accommodation Payment (DAP) (indexed twice per year) or
- Combination of refundable deposit and daily payment
- Part lump sum with the daily payment drawn down from the lump sum paid
The same payment options are available to supported residents in how they pay for their accommodation contribution.
Daily Accommodation Payments are indexed twice per year in line with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) and an annual retention amount of 2% will be deducted from refundable deposits (RAD/RAC) for up to 5 years.
Higher Everyday Living Fee (HELF)
Residents may agree to enter into a Higher Everyday Living Agreement. The Higher Everyday Living options available at your RFBI Village will be provided to you on entry. You can take up HELF services at any time during your stay and have an option to cancel when the agreement is renewed each year.

History
RFBI purchase the original Strathlea Nursing Home in 2004, and transferred the 44 beds to the newly constructed Ken Thompson Lodge. The Lodge was named after Ken Thompson in recognition and appreciation of his long association with RFBI. Ken has held the position of RFBI Chairman of the Board, and was a serving member of the Board. The Strathlea building itself is now in private hands.
On completion in 2009, the Village was formally opened by Prof Marie Bashir, Governor of NSW. A further 16 beds were added to the Lodge, and so today RFBI Armidale Masonic Village provides 62 beds in modern and attractive surroundings.
