The youngest and oldest members of the Hawkins community have come together over an important intergenerational experience arranged by our staff and a local childcare centre.

Residents in our RFBI Hawkins Masonic Village (located in Edgeworth, Newcastle) were treated to a special performance from the kids at Edgeworth Child Care Centre recently, with their new friends performing some of their favourite songs. Many of our residents joined in for a sing-a-long and relished the opportunity to spend quality one-on-one time with the kids afterwards.

To top it off, the kids gifted our residents a beautiful, crocheted blanket and some drawings that they had created themselves.

Fostering connections between the residents and the community and creating opportunities for intergenerational experiences are extremely beneficial for all participants. Not only do they create a real sense of happiness, but everyone is focused on enjoying the moment and the sense of social connectedness and self-discovery that it brings.

We are fortunate to have arranged visits from the children again for more members of our RFBI Hawkins Masonic Village in the coming months.
