Australia Day is a time for all Australians to reflect, respect and celebrate.

We’re all part of Australia’s story, a rich tapestry of cultures and traditions, from the first Australians to each of us who call Australia home today.

This Australia Day, we paid respect to over 60,000 years of stories, history and contributions of Australians who lived, worked and fought for the freedoms we enjoy today and celebrate the vibrant communities around us.

We did so across many of our villages in a representation of respect and celebration.

In RFBI Holt Masonic Village, the spirit of Australia Day echoed through the air as residents gathered for a festive BBQ lunch. The aroma of sizzling chicken kebabs, succulent steak, and hearty sausages filled the atmosphere, accompanied by the wholesome flavours of potato and garden salad. As they savoured the culinary delights, the residents were immersed in a symphony of Australian tunes, adding to the celebratory ambiance.

The village was adorned with quintessential Australian decorations, transporting everyone to the heart of the nation’s culture. From the walls adorned with iconic imagery to the meticulously set Australian-themed table settings, every detail was considered. And what’s a celebration without dessert? The indulgent pavlova served as a sweet finale, perfectly complementing the festivities.

Following the hearty lunch, residents and their families came together for a delightful Happy Hour at 3:00 PM. It was a wonderful way to finish off a day filled with warmth, joy, and a deep appreciation for the Australian spirit that unites them all.

Meanwhile, over in RFBI Bellingen Masonic Village, creativity took centre stage as residents engaged in Australia Day-themed art activities. With enthusiasm and passion, they embarked on a journey of artistic expression, crafting intricate maps of Australia and adorning them with indigenous artwork. The result was a stunning display of cultural fusion, reflecting the diverse tapestry of Australian heritage.

On Australia Day itself, residents came together to adorn the village with their vibrant creations, infusing every corner with colour and vitality. They tuned in to watch the Prime Minister’s speech and a live televised ceremony, honouring the nation’s rich history and heritage. The day continued with an engaging Australia Day quiz and a dose of laughter with Australian jokes, fostering a sense of community and togetherness.

Across RFBI villages, Australia Day was not just a celebration of national pride but also a testament to the resilience and spirit of its residents. Through shared experiences, laughter, and creativity, they embodied the essence of what it means to be Australian, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of all who participated.
