A love for ice cream plays a special part in many of our lives, from the day you first hear the undeniable jingle of the ice cream van visiting your local neighbourhood as a child to sharing a scoop with your grandkids.

It’s that passion for ice cream that inspired our staff at RFBI Tamworth Masonic Village to bring the experience home to our residents. The team recently created and decorated an ice cream trolley that came with an ice cream man, complete with bow tie.

The trolley was wheeled through the dining room with the popular ice cream van music playing in the background to bring residents together.

Three flavours of scrumptious ice cream were on offer, as were some delicious mix-ins. Residents were invited to create their own ice cream sundaes with their favourite candies mixed in. This was a good opportunity to encourage independence, choice and individual decision making for our residents.

We had a wonderful time enjoying ice cream, sharing memories and stories about the frozen treat and chatting together.

It was such a popular experience that residents requested it be added to the monthly calendar – we are more than happy to oblige!
