There is a quiet, beautiful rhythm to be found in the art of paper folding. Recently, the lounge rooms of our mainstream and memory support units at RFBI Concord Community Village were transformed into creative studios as residents and staff gathered for an afternoon of paper crafting.

Under the gentle guidance of our Leisure & Lifestyle team, residents worked together to create vibrant paper lanterns and delicate flowers. Step by step, hands worked in unison – folding, shaping and smoothing out colourful sheets of paper.

While the activity resulted in beautiful decorations, the true value was found in the doing. For many of our residents, particularly those in our memory support unit, the repetitive and gentle nature of paper folding can be incredibly grounding. The rhythm of the work sparked spontaneous conversations and a wonderful sense of quiet achievement.

The finished lanterns and flowers now hang proudly throughout the facility, but they represent much more than just a pop of colour. Each piece is a testament to the patience and creativity of our residents and the special bond they share with our staff.
