Take A Moment With…Sharron

Sharron has been providing quality care as a registered nurse for more than 40 years.

She has given four decades of her expertise to helping others. Sharron is someone who you immediately respect, appreciate and want to get to know. It’s no wonder she immediately connects with residents in RFBI Glen Innes Masonic Village, where she works as our Care Manager.

Sharron worked as a nurse in the UK before discovering she wanted to come home to Australia and work in a friendly community. Glen Innes was the perfect fit.

It has been a fast-learning curve discovering the principles of aged care in Australia, but Sharron has quickly adapted and has become a pivotal team member in the Glen Innes leadership team.

Even after 40 years Sharron’s passion for what she does has not waived.

“I love going to work. It’s always challenging and exciting. Every day is different,” Sharron shares.

“I love to start early and make sure staff and residents are supported. I take pride in offering experience, an open door policy and commitment to mentoring and helping others to grow within my role.”

After Sharron’s many years in the industry, nothing much surprises her anymore. However she says that is part of the spark of working in aged care.

“I encourage others to consider a career in aged care. It is an honour to be invited into our resident’s homes and a privilege to care for them.”

One of Sharron’s fondest moments was listening to a resident speak Welsh and being able to speak back confidently, as she knows the language.

When Sharron isn’t supporting our team and caring for residents at RFBI, she loves to spend time exploring the local community and spending time with her husband.
