Take A Moment With… Rosalind (Roz)

Sonia Lim 8 Aug 2022

One of the greatest gifts our volunteers give to residents is music. Roz is one of our regular volunteers who plays classics on the piano and brings smiles to our residents faces in our RFBI Holt Masonic Village for an hour every fortnight.

It’s difficult not to tap a foot, singalong or have a dance when Roz is around, and her visits are looked forward to by residents each fortnight. Roz says it makes her happy to see the residents happy.

“I volunteer so I can stay busy, but also to do something for my community. I love how much they appreciate the tunes and ask me for the songs they like,” Roz said.

Music in our villages is always a welcome experience for residents and staff. Hearing familiar songs can immediately boost anyone’s mood and has countless emotional and physical benefits to elderly residents, including those with dementia.

Roz says she enjoys visiting the village and finds our staff extremely helpful and efficient.

“The people at RFBI are always very pleasant, efficient, caring and pleasant. They have such an important role – caring for people both mentally and physically through activities like music,” Roz said.

Roz even has her own YouTube featuring some of her music. Click here to take a look.
