Take A Moment With… Kevin
4 May 2026
“Volunteering has given me more than I ever expected. It’s given me friendships, purpose and the joy of making a difference – no matter how small. Being part of the RFBI community feels like coming home, and I’m proud to do my part in helping our residents feel that same sense of belonging and care every day,” Kevin shares.
Kevin is a familiar face in our RFBI Glen Innes Masonic Village, having worked in our maintenance team for many years and with his wife as Care Manager in the village.
“In that role, I learned very quickly that my job wasn’t just about fixing things – it was about making people feel safe, comfortable and at home. Every leaky tap I fixed or creaky door I repaired was a way of showing the residents that someone cared about their space, and by extension, about them.” Kevin says.
When Kevin finally hung up his toolbelt he knew he didn’t want to just sit still.
“I missed the sense of purpose that comes with helping others. I missed the residents, the staff, and the unique sense of community that you only find in a village like this.
Volunteering with RFBI gave me a way to stay active and, most importantly, stay connected.”
Kevin continues to be a critical part of our village family, spending time with residents and helping to keep the village run smoothly. We are fortunate to have many staff members who work with us and after retirement, return to share their invaluable skills, knowledge of the community and culture, and time with residents living in our care.
Thank you Kevin for bringing so much joy to residents each time you visit.
