State-wide Spring Garden Party and Open Day

Sonia Lim 10 Nov 2019

September was the start of our state-wide celebration of Spring, when RFBI Villages open their doors and welcome local community members to join the team for a day full of fun activities. At RFBI, we keep our local communities involved at our Open Days and Spring Garden Festival to give our residents, their families and staff the chance to connect with our local community.

It is also a good opportunity for those who want to discover what aged care is really like, whether for themselves or a family member, visit our Villages in a relaxed atmosphere. Village teams hold information sessions, which includes a simple explanation of fees and charges, and conduct guided tours to give visitors a chance to see the Village facilities, meet residents and staff.

“We had many people from the community pop in who were interested to learn more about the services we offer at the Village,” said Martin Bunyan, General Manager at RFBI Coffs Harbour Masonic Village.

This year’s celebrations included community market stalls, petting zoos, jumping castles for the kids, entertainment and much more. Our Spring Garden Festival also celebrates the wonderful gardening skills of our retirement residents as we showcase all the beautiful gardens they have maintained.

Martin added, “Our residents were mingling with visitors and it was fantastic to see everyone having a good time and listening to some old tunes which got people
singing!”

Since September, we have hosted 19 events across NSW and ACT, with RFBI Berry Masonic Village wrapping up the season on 8 November making it one of the state’s ‘largest garden parties’.

“There was plenty of colour, variety and lots of great entertainment with flamenco dancers performing,” said Yvette Rose, Administration Officer from
RFBI Raleigh Urunga Masonic Village.

“Of course, people of all ages love a baby animal petting zoo and there was plenty of great locally made produce and food on offer at the market stalls and barbecue. There was really something for everyone to enjoy.”
