The curtains rose and the applause thundered at RFBI Benhome Masonic Village recently, as the community came together for a spectacular Christmas play that captured the true heart of the holiday season.

Performance and the creative arts are a vibrant part of life at Benhome, but the annual Christmas play is always a standout event. This year was no exception, with weeks of preparation culminating in a performance filled with laughter, music and plenty of festive flair.

The production was a true collaborative effort. The talented residents took to the stage with confidence, delivering lines with perfect comedic timing and heart, while our dedicated staff donned costumes and joined the fun as supporting cast members.

Sharing the traditional messages of Christmas and its meaning, the play provided a wonderful opportunity for everyone to showcase their creativity. The costumes added a layer of magic to the village’s common area, which had been transformed into a temporary theatre.

Beyond the entertainment, the play serves an important purpose in the village. Participating in theatre offers cognitive engagement, social connection and gives residents confidence.

“The energy in the room was incredible,” said one member of the Lifestyle team. “To see the residents so engaged and having so much fun on stage is what makes all the preparation worth it.”

RFBI Benhome extends a massive thank you to our “cast and crew”- the residents who braved the stage and the staff who worked tirelessly behind the scenes on props, costumes and directing. We can’t wait to see what next year’s production brings!
