As part of our Aged Care Employee Day celebrations, we announced the finalists for our 2025 Showcase Awards, recognising those staff who have demonstrated excellence and dedication in the delivery of aged care services.

Among the 21 finalists is our Lifestyle Team from RFBI Moonbi Masonic Village, named a finalist for the Team of the Year Award.

The Lifestyle Team comprises Robyn Locke, Karena Howarth, Sharon Carpenter, Maree Philp and Karuna Dahal,  a group committed to enhancing the quality of life for residents through creativity, compassion and personalised care.

“The Lifestyle Team at Moonbi are a shining example of dedication and teamwork,” said Dr Jodie Parkes, General Manager, RFBI Moonbi Masonic Village. “Their personalised approach ensures no resident is left behind. They consistently go above and beyond to create an environment that fosters connection, comfort, and joy for all.”

The team’s work is characterised by meaningful one-on-one interactions and engaging group programs such as walking clubs and art therapy, all designed to support residents’ emotional, physical and mental wellbeing. They are particularly focused on residents with complex needs, ensuring they feel valued and included.

In addition to their daily efforts, the team also spearheads community initiatives like the ‘Pop Up’ Shop, which supports RFBI’s Benevolence Program and encourages participation from residents, families and staff alike.

Despite challenges such as adapting to individual needs and organising inclusive activities, the Lifestyle Team remains resilient and innovative, continually improving their programs based on resident feedback.

“We are incredibly proud of this team and the difference they make every day,” Dr Parkes added. “Their passion and commitment truly embody the values of RFBI.”

The finalists will be honoured at a special awards ceremony in Sydney this September, where winners will be revealed and celebrated amongst their peers and industry leaders.
