One of the important parts of NAIDOC Week is encouraging young and old to become educated on our First Nations and their histories and cultures. Many schools encourage their students to spend time reading and learning about First Nations stories, their voices and traditions.

Knowing the importance of books as a resource within this process, our team at RFBI Leeton Masonic Village organised a useful and engaging activity for residents to acknowledge NAIDOC Week. We gathered craft and paint materials to create some Aboriginal art inspired bookmarks to gift to the local Whitton Murrami Public School.

The students loved the gifts so much that they are now a regular feature in their class reading material.

What a great way to encourage learning for both the school and within our village.
