Richard and Hyacinth ruffling feathers in Coffs Harbour

We have welcomed some special, feathery friends to our RFBI Coffs Harbour Masonic Village. Two little budgies were given to us at just two weeks old for residents to love and care for.

The birds were appropriately named Richard and Hyacinth (very possibly inspired by sitcom Keeping Up Appearances) after a rigorous voting process! Residents chose names and put them into a hat, with the final names randomly selected for the two little birds.

Residents have spent much time with the birds in the wellness centre, singing to them and also trying to teach them to talk. We’re currently working on ‘hello gorgeous’ and ‘bingo’ as their first words, though that might become problematic during our regular bingo games.
