RFBI Kurri Kurri Masonic Village helping the homeless

cornerstone 21 Jun 2017

Amaroo residents are currently collecting shopping bags of all shapes and sizes so that we can help create sleeping mats for the Hunter’s homeless population. It’s a process of cutting the bags into strips, tying the strips together then rolling them up into balls so the clever staff in Amaroo can crochet the plastic bags into warm waterproof mats.

Our Amaroo residents are loving the process and feel they are helping people less fortunate then themselves. It takes 700 shopping bags to make one 6ft mat. If you have any clean used shopping bags laying around at home feel free to drop them into Amaroo and we will put them to good use.
