To celebrate the funfair and folk festival, Oktoberfest, staff and residents in our Villages in Leeton and Basin enjoyed some of the occasion’s favourite traditions.

Held annually in Munich, Germany, Oktoberfest is a 16-day folk festival that runs from late September to early October. More than 6million people around the world attend the festival each year.

Our teams organised to bring the festivities and culture of Oktoberfest to our residents.

In Leeton, our talented Catering Team prepared some delicious black forest cupcakes, a favourite treat during an Oktoberfest feast. The cakes were enjoyed whilst listening to some magical piano accordion music and whilst wearing traditional Bavarian hats, which are decorated with feathers. The hats are commonly called Tyrolean, Bavarian or Alpine hats – one of many fun facts shared with residents during the Oktoberfest celebrations.

In Basin View, residents dressed up, took fun photos and enjoyed a slide show all about the Oktoberfest celebrations. They listened to German music over lunch and even played a game of Beer Pong.

It was a wonderful opportunity for a laugh, some tasty food and to celebrate some of the special experiences in German culture. Click here for to read more of our Village news.
