It was all on hands on deck in RFBI Goulburn Masonic Village’s Memory Support Unit! Residents were busy creating delicious treats with the help and guidance of one of our Carers, Sophie.

This week the cookbook was opened to Mars Bar Slice – a lot of mixing, pouring, presenting and love went into the final creation. The slice tasted just as good as it looked, enjoyed by all during the day’s morning tea gathering.

Cooking and baking activities can be emotionally, physically and mentally beneficial to people living with dementia and Alzheimer’s. Most importantly, we find residents experience a real boost in self-esteem and satisfaction from the process of preparing food, and then giving it to others to enjoy.

Eating together also provides a social opportunity for connection and relationship building.

We can’t wait to see what Sophie and the residents whip up next.
