Looking after the world around us is an important conversation that our residents and staff have regularly. We’re conscious of our impact on the environment and the actions we can take across our services to reduce our carbon footprint. In June our team and residents at RFBI Holt Masonic Village held an event to recognise World Ocean Day (8 June). The day encourages action around the world to create a healthier ocean that sustains us all, no matter where we live.

For many of our residents, they grew up in an era when looking after the world around them was natural – they tended their own vegetables, repaired rather than purchased new, and took other steps to protect their family’s wellbeing and the environment’s. So on World Ocean Day, our residents were thrilled to get involved in talking and thinking about how we can provide for our environment.

We held ocean themed brain games and bingo in the afternoon to encourage the conversation.

It was an event we are certainly looking forward to recognising again next year. For more news from our villages, click here.
