We are absolutely delighted to introduce you to one of our wonderful volunteers, Andrew Bayly who has brought a wave of energy and heart to RFBI West Wyalong Masonic Village.

After relocating from Townsville, Queensland in January 2026 for a self-described “fast-tracked tree change” as empty nesters, Andrew and his partner decided it was time for a new chapter. Having volunteered full-time since 2017, giving back to the community is a central part of Andrew’s life. Upon arriving in town, he was eager to continue that commitment and quickly joined our team as a volunteer bus driver.

Andrew combines his driving experience with what he enjoys most: supporting residents and helping them stay active, independent and connected.

“It’s a win-win for everyone. No two days are the same and I love it,” Andrew says.

A beautiful example of Andrew’s compassionate approach happened around this year’s ANZAC Day. After overhearing a resident and fellow veteran mention that he would love to attend the local Dawn Service and march, Andrew stepped in without hesitation. He organised a bus trip for residents to attend the service and proudly marched alongside the resident in the parade.

It was a beautiful act that speaks volumes about Andrew’s willingness to listen, to act and to make magical moments possible for older Australians.

“It’s a privilege to work alongside such passionate, selfless individuals. I feel very fortunate to be in a position where I can serve the community and help foster a sense of belonging and inclusivity,” Andrew shared.

He believes volunteering is both an honor and a responsibility, adding, “No one is too busy. We all have the same 24 hours. It’s all about priorities.”

Thank you, Andrew, for your incredible generosity, commitment and the genuine care you bring to our village family.

If you too would like to make a difference by volunteering even just one hour of your time, we’d love to hear from you. Click here to find out more.
