Leeton residents celebrate horses birthday
9 Aug 2021It may sound unusual, but on August 1 all horses blow out a few imaginary candles to celebrate their birthday. Whilst its an event most celebrated in relation to the racing industry, it’s also one to acknowledge the important role horses play in all of our lives in one way or another.
Our staff and residents at RFBI Leeton Masonic Village decided to celebrate the day and use it as an opportunity to share conversations about horses and encourage residents to reflect on the good and bad memories related to them. Led by our very active Lifestyle Officer in the village who spent the day riding on a stick horse, residents shared their passion for an animal that has had such an influence on the world over hundreds of years.
Amongst the activities, residents created some beautiful art in which they decorated the mane of a drawn horse with flowers, crepe paper and other colourful elements.
For a day that is not known by many, all certainly had a good time!
