Thousands of people descend on the Yanco town for its annual Yanco Lions Club Christmas Tree Competition and this year we will be a part of it.

In collaboration with the students from Wamoon Public School, residents from RFBI Leeton Masonic Village decorated our big village tree and entered it into the competition. The experience created a nice intergenerational connection between the young students and our older residents, who worked closely together to create such a spectacular tree.

The school made the tree, the students made all of the Christmas decorations, and the residents made the little white bird decorations to top it off. Residents were also responsible for decorating the tree.

Our collaboration worked – we won second place in the competition.

The tree will be displayed in our village for some time until it is moved to the school for the children to enjoy. Congratulations to all involved!
