Irish Eyes are Smiling on our RFBI Residents20 Mar 2019
St. Patrick’s Day is one of our resident’s favourite celebrations and this year, staff across RFBI made every effort to make this extra special. RFBI Villages were in a sea of green, as halls were decorated with green balloons, four leaf clovers and tables filled with a feast of green-coloured food!
“The day was so much fun – our residents, their families and staff all said what fun they had! We downloaded a program which converted everyone’s names into ‘Leprechaun names’ and some of them were hilarious: Nosey McWobbles, Jolly McCheesy, Playful O’Doodles and Lucky O’Lucky,” said Leanne Gallagher, Leisure and Lifestyle Manager at RFBI Lake Haven Masonic Village.
It was great to see our residents involved in the activities organized by our teams at the Villages, with many getting into the Irish spirit sharing a wine, beer, Baileys or Guinness.
“The residents really loved dressing up for the occasion. Ron and Dee, our guest musicians, gave a great performance and you could truly see how much our residents enjoyed it,” says Robin Herden, Lifestyle Officer at RFBI Tamworth Masonic Village.
There was lots of Irish music, bad Irish jokes, trivia and “pot of gold” games throughout the day. St. Patrick’s Day is a great celebration to have in aged care. The Irish sure know how to have fun, so at RFBI, we too made this day a fun experience for our seniors in care!
May the luck of the Irish be with you!
