RFBI receives HESTA Outstanding Organisation (Aged Care) Award

Last night RFBI was honoured to receive the HESTA Outstanding Organisation (Aged Care) Award at their 26th Annual Awards Celebrations.

RFBI was one of four finalists nominated for the award, all of whom had put forward great initiatives to improve the lives of those in their care.

“This is RFBI’s first HESTA Award and it could not come at a better time for us.” Frank Price, RFBI CEO, commented.

“It has been a tough couple of years for aged care workers and now as they form part of the frontline health response to a global pandemic, times have never been more challenging. And yet, aged care workers turn up every day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, to ensure the people in their care can live the best life possible.”

“We created our Mental Moments Show in response to the very challenging time aged care workers are facing as our way of letting them know that the work they do is valued and how important it is that we all care for them, the carers.”

RFBI’s Mental Moments Show was a free livestream event featuring performances from a number of Aussie legends and messages from residents and families as well as special guests the Governor of NSW, Her Excellency the Honourable Margaret Beazley AC QC, Bronwyn Bishop AO, Pat Sparrow, CEO ACSA and Ian Thorpe. The show ran throughout mental health week, culminating in a finale on World Mental Health Day.

The show helped bring RFBI’s community together, with thousands of people watching live and sharing messages of love and support for RFBI staff. Many more watched on-demand in the days that followed.

The award comes with $7500 and RFBI has committed to putting it towards this years Mental Moments Show which is shaping up to be even bigger and better than the show they created last year.

“Our Mental Moment’s Show was always intended to be for all aged care workers and this year we are partnering with our aged care peak bodies to bring the show to the entire aged care sector.” Mr Price stated.

“This years’ show will run throughout Mental Health Month and will offer fun ways for aged care workers, residents, clients and families to come together, tips and tools to support aged care workers to maintain good mental health as well as messages from special guests.”
