A heartfelt thank you from Garry

Sonia Lim 15 Sep 2025

When Garry’s father, John, moved into RFBI Glen Innes Masonic Village, Garry brought with him a unique perspective. As a registered aged care nurse with nearly four decades of experience in the sector, he had seen care delivered in many settings and over a dozen different villages throughout his career.

But what Garry witnessed at our village in Glen Innes was something he hadn’t experienced before.

“I’ve worked in more than a dozen villages over the years and I’ve never come across any that provide the quality of care or compassion that your team does every single day,” Garry shared.

From the very first day his father arrived, Garry says the staff made both him and his dad feel supported, respected and welcomed. He spoke with genuine appreciation about the atmosphere of kindness and dignity that defined his father’s care, especially in his final days.

Garry noted that while his father was initially reluctant to enter aged care, the warmth and professionalism of the Glen Innes team quickly turned hesitation into trust. By the end, the village felt like home.

What stood out to Garry most was the attention to detail, the small things that often go unnoticed, but matter deeply to families. Whether it was ensuring John was always well-groomed and comfortable or taking time to involve Gary in care decisions, the team demonstrated a level of compassion that went above and beyond.

“You made a very difficult time much easier,” Garry said. “Neither Dad nor I wanted for anything.”

His message wasn’t just one of thanks, it was a powerful recognition of the incredible work aged care professionals do every day, often without fanfare.

At RFBI, we are incredibly proud of our team at RFBI Glen Innes Masonic Village for the care, empathy and professionalism they show to every resident and family. Feedback like Garry’s is a moving reminder of the lasting impact that comes from doing the little things with great heart.
