Residents of RFBI Hawkins Masonic Village gathered recently to eat delicious baked treats and raise funds for the vital work that the Mark Hughes Foundation does to support brain cancer research.

Both staff and residents held a special morning tea to show our support and participate in the 6th Annual NRL Beanie Round. The event encourages NRL clubs, players and fans to unite to raise money for brain cancer research, with $3million being the goal for this year.

We have many footy fans in our villages and lots of Newcastle Knights fans in our RFBI Hawkins Masonic Village, which is the football team Mark previously played for. Everyone was keen to be involved!

Together we raised $385 towards a worthy cause that helps raise much needed funds for brain cancer research as well as creates awareness and support patients and their families.

Our staff also organised a lucky door prize, with four Mark Hughes Foundation beanies given away to four of our wonderful residents.
