Gardening is such a beneficial hobby for people, young and old. Unfortunately, many older people give up their green thumb as physical activity becomes more difficult. However, there are many tools and tips our elderly can follow to help them garden well into their golden years.

We like to encourage our residents to be involved in the garden, as we know the benefits are many. Gardening is an enjoyable form of exercise, it increases physical activity and mobility, encourages the use of motor skills, improves endurance and strength, relieves stress and provides stimulation. Many of our villages have embraced gardening, including RFBI Tamworth Masonic Village, which recently had residents out in the garden planting new seedlings. Residents selected the plants they wanted to grow and planted them in pots. The morning was followed by cold drinks under the new pergola whilst residents took in the stunning day and reminisced about the gardens they grew up with.

What a way to start a day! Click here for more details on RFBI Tamworth Masonic Village.
