Getting into the Swing of Things

Resident Jean Higgins playing golf

Playing golf does wonders for older people’s strength and balance and when staff at RFBI Lake Haven Masonic Village discovered that their resident Jean Higgins would like to play a game of golf, they were set to make it happen.

After contacting Wyong Golf Club to make necessary arrangements, Jean was ecstatic to hear from staff something she did not think was possible – she was going to play golf. After a buggy and set of clubs were hired, Jean was set to tee off her first hole. She was truly dressed for the occasion and was extremely delighted to have kept her golf shoes.

A few practise shots and she was back in the swing of things; hitting the ball and striding off to where it had landed – ready for her next shot.

“It has been a wonderful afternoon. Picking up the clubs and playing again reminds me of the time I use to play golf with my husband at Fox Hills Golf Course,” reminisces Jean.

Golf is a great way to have some fun and get fit at the same time; especially when Jean would rather skip the buggy and walk the 9-hole course!
