Getting physical in Holt

Getting the body moving and the mind thinking is an amazing way to make you feel good, energised and satisfied from your day.

As individuals, we are advised to spend some time each day doing some form of exercise that nourishes the body and soul. In our villages, our organised activities are designed to incorporate an element of hand-eye coordination and to boost movement throughout the day.

Activities like the one pictured, which we’ve deemed the parachute balloon game, keep our residents active. The game involves two teams holding a corner of a parachute material to balance and move around a ball. It’s a fantastic game for control and balance, and is won based on points from keeping the ball up off the ground.

We find that games like these stimulate the mind, are fantastic as a form of social interaction and community participation, boost coordination and get residents moving. We also find music and dance are fantastic ways to create a space for exercise without really thinking about the activity being tiring.
