The spirit of the 2026 Winter Olympics was alive in Cessnock, as residents at RFBI Cessnock Masonic Village embarked on a whirlwind Armchair Travel journey to Italy.

Inspired by the snowy peaks and world-class competition currently taking place in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo, residents were keen to dive deeper into the culture, history and beauty of the host nation.

Without needing a passport or a long-haul flight, the group explored Italy’s most famous cities, its breathtaking mountain regions, and, of course, its world-renowned culinary traditions. The session was more than just a history lesson; it was a sensory experience that sparked vivid memories of past travels and ignited curiosity about life in the Italian Alps.

Events like these are a core part of our lifestyle program at RFBI. They prove that the spirit of discovery doesn’t stop – no matter your age. Whether it’s discussing Italian architecture or cheering on athletes from the comfort of a lounge chair, these sessions foster connection, cognitive engagement and a lot of laughter.

Watching the Winter Olympics together has brought a wonderful buzz to the village, proving once again that at RFBI Cessnock, we are always ready for the next adventure.
