RFBI Armidale Masonic Village residents and guests have enjoyed wafts of gentle lavender over the past few weeks.

Our team prepared a special sensory activity for residents in our memory support unit. The activity involved making lavender bags using lavender sourced from the village garden. Helen, a resident of the village, helped pick the lavender for residents to use.

The sensory activity engaged the residents’ senses of touch and smell and sparked conversations about the use of lavender for relaxation and better sleep. It was heartening to see the residents enjoy the activity and reminisce about the wonderful properties of lavender.

The bags are happily kept in resident’s rooms now for their enjoyment and to help them to get a restful night of sleep each night.
