Being an aged care worker is an incredible vocation but can also be challenging at times. We believe it is vital for our team who give so much of their time and passion to our residents and clients to dedicate time to caring for themselves.

Over the past few years, we’ve held our Mental Moments Month throughout October to educate and encourage our team and other workers in aged care to look after their own wellbeing. We believe caring for the carers helps them bring their best to work and to their personal lives as well.

This October our team organised special morning tea experiences for our team across our many locations. Our staff in RFBI Raleigh Urunga, Cessnock, Bellingen, Holt, Leeton, Benhome (Maitland), Berry and Dubbo Masonic Villages and our head office were treated to a special morning tea with yummy treats and a cuppa.

Some of our team, including our RFBI Tamworth, Glen Innes and Goulburn Masonic Village teams, enjoyed themed dress-up events as part of the occasion whilst RFBI Lake Haven Masonic Village enjoyed an on-site coffee van.

RFBI Basin View Masonic Village used the opportunity to recognise staff for years of service and to do a little good for their community, raising $239 towards Breast Cancer Research. While RFBI Coffs Harbour took caring for the carers to another level by organising a special lunch and on-site shoulder and neck massages for the staff.

While October is our Mental Moments Month dedicated to raising awareness around caring for the carer, we are proactive about ensuring the physical, mental and emotional wellbeing of our team all year.
