Bringing together Lake Haven’s retirement community19 Feb 2020
The theme for this year’s NSW Seniors Festival is ‘Love to Celebrate’ and our team at RFBI Lake Haven Masonic Village planned an event that involved our whole retirement community.
Residents from both our residential care and retirement living villages, as well as our Care at Home clients, were invited to a concert and afternoon tea.
Guests were captivated by the charming voice of Lambeth Bennett and can be seen clapping and tapping their toes to the music.
“It was lovely so see a guest of ours gracefully twirling around the tables,” commented Leanne Gallagher, Leisure and Lifestyle Manager for RFBI Lake Haven Masonic Village.
During intermission, guests were served a delicious spread for afternoon tea filled with scones, caramel slice, macadamia biscuits and black forest cake.
The event gave everyone a wonderful opportunity to socialise, catch up with old friends and meet new ones.
“This is the most fun I’ve had in a while,” said Nancye, a RFBI Care at Home client from Maitland.
However, the fun was not over. The Village golf buggy was used as a mode of transportation to those living in the retirement village. For retirement living resident, Hazel, riding in the buggy was a once in a lifetime experience.
Upon hearing the thrill of the buggy ride for some of our residents, the Village Lifestyle team offered a buggy tour of our Village!
Every year, the NSW Seniors Festival encourages members of the community to join in festivities that embrace all things to do with ageing. It is an event RFBI looks forward to every year and encourages anyone who is starting their aged care journey to visit their local RFBI Village and have a chat with the team.
