There is nothing our residents like more than sitting down with a cuppa and a biscuit, except when you make the biscuit yourself! Our team at RFBI Tamworth Masonic Village handed over the baking tools to our residents recently, inviting them to decorate their own biscuits.

Baking offers countless benefits to seniors, including alleviating stress, triggering positive memories of baking with family members in the past, stimulating the senses, encouraging creativity and bringing people together socially.

Residents were offered a range of coloured icings and toppings to choose from, including mini marshmallows, mini smarties, lollies and different types of sprinkles. Residents became very focused and invested in their creations and loved sharing stories about their past baking experiences.

We even discovered that some residents used to work or own bakeries in their younger days.

The ultimate award for the experience was enjoying our biscuit creations afterwards. Yum!
