There’s nothing that brings a community together like the Olympics. Our staff and residents love to share their passion for the Australian athletes competing in Tokyo this year and discuss the highlights from the many sports played.

Many of our villages have thrown special Olympic events to help bring the experience home. Our Leisure and Lifestyle team at RFBI Bathurst Masonic Village decorated the village with crepe paper rings that have been displayed in our Activity Room to bring the Olympic spirit to life. We also have an Olympic flag on display, which is an authentic, original flag from the New Zealand Olympics in 1992, brought home by a staff member who participated in the torch run.

To celebrate the games, we’ve all enjoyed a few in-house sports, including a men verses ladies beach volleyball game, a game of golf and a popular bowls competition. Our residents loved being able to participate in the sports they support. We also often gather together to barrack for our Aussie athletes in front of the TV in the Activity Room.

There’s nothing like a group of vocal, passionate sportspeople to create a little fun.
