The lounge room at RFBI Holt Masonic Village was filled with vivid imagination, engaging storytelling and warm family connection during a special literary Show and Tell session.

Organised with the support of our local Leisure & Lifestyle team, the event was brought to life by resident Ian Matters, his wife Doreen and their daughter, published children’s author Melissa Matters. Ian proudly invited Melissa to visit the village to share her popular Lexie Moon book series with his fellow residents.

Melissa read her book, Lexie Moon and the Word Burgling Bungle, aloud to the gathered group. Her expressive reading and playful narrative held everyone’s attention as the story followed young Lexie on an adventure navigating a mysterious mix-up involving missing words to help people pronounce tricky terms like spaghetti or Worcestershire sauce.

Residents thoroughly enjoyed the interactive reading, with many commenting on Melissa’s engaging delivery and the humour embedded throughout the story.

The visit provided a delightful opportunity for residents to connect over literature, share a few laughs and celebrate the artistic achievements of a resident’s family member. The entire Residential Care Village extended a warm thank you to Melissa for sharing her creativity and time with the community.
