Ahoy, Me Hearties!2 Oct 2019
It was ‘International Talk Like a Pirate Day’ and staff at RFBI Dubbo Masonic Village had prepared a fun-filled day of pirate activities which included pirate boat racing and an afternoon of trivia for our residents to enjoy. Residents and staff were encouraged to dress up as pirates and exchange famous pirate quotes such as ‘Shiver me timbers’, ‘Ahoy matey’ and ‘Avast Ye’.
There were also two lovely visitors who joined in with the festivities at the Village – a regular visiting puppy also made to dress up as a pirate and a lovely surprise visit from a friendly echidna found in the car park.
Pirate ships were made by residents during craft and raced them on the day. Winners received gold chocolate coins as a treat at the end of the race. It was a wonderful time to see residents laughing every time they heard someone say “Arrrr”.
Theme days are great fun for our residents and our staff is always looking for out for interesting ideas to encourage social interaction among our residents. Read more about these activities at https://rfbi.com.au/news-events/
