Most of us have a few things we want to achieve in our lives – many refer to it as their bucket list. It might be starting a family, climbing a mountain or completing a cooking course.

For our wonderful 90-year-old resident, Harry, his big bucket list item was to fly in a helicopter. Recently, his dream came true! Harry is a resident of our Amaroo House (memory support unit) in our RFBI Kurri Kurri Masonic Village. He has always loved helicopters and dreamed of seeing the world from one.

Our Leisure & Lifestyle Officer, Janene, is passionate about making our resident’s dreams come true. Alongside Harry’s son, Greg, Janene organised a special treat – a 20-minute helicopter experience for Harry.

Harry was whisked away in the Helicopter to take in the stunning rural landscape across Kurri Kurri and Mt Sugarloaf, and see the sparkling Lake Macquarie from up high. Our residents waved Harry off on his voyage and loved hearing his stories when he returned.

Harry said it was a day he would never forget. There were many tears shed by Harry, our staff and residents over the occasion.
