Covid-19 Update

RFBI is committed to the care and safety of all residents, clients and staff. Our aim has always been to keep Covid-19 out of our Villages, however it is important that we are prepared in the event that we do have an outbreak and our teams are equipped to ensure the best outcomes for everyone.

We have robust infection control measures in place and our staff are knowledgeable in mitigating the risks of an infectious disease outbreak should one occur in a Village or home care service. These procedures are regularly reviewed by our in-house Nurse Practitioner and updated in line with new information and recommendations from the Department of Health. We have undertaken considerable work to prepare and test our readiness.

  • We adhere to government visiting requirements, updating our visiting protocols as restrictions ease and supporting face to face visits when it is safe to do so.
  • We continue to admit new residents, with a pre-screening process to ensure they do not put any of our current residents at risk.
  • We have created an emergency outbreak kit at each Village and have a central supply of PPE so that every team has what they need immediately should any of our staff, residents or clients test positive for Covid-19.
  • We have established an Outbreak Response Team at each Village and an Outbreak Management Toolkit for staff.
  • We have established an Outbreak Management Team made up of senior clinicians, a GP and a Geriatrician that is ready to mobilise should any one of our Villages have an outbreak.
  • We have identified an outbreak workforce made up of RFBI staff from across our Villages and Care at Home teams that we can call on to support a Village in the event we have an outbreak and local staff need to self-isolate.
