RFBI has been named one of The Australian’s Best Places to Work 2026, a recognition made especially meaningful because it reflects the genuine experiences shared by our employees and the positive workplace culture they help create every day.
2026 14th Eldercare Innovation Awards
RFBI won the Food & Nutrition award at the 14th Asia Pacific Eldercare Innovation Awards 2026 for its resident-led dining approach. By giving older people greater choice, flexibility and autonomy in how, when and where they dine, RFBI is helping create more meaningful dining experiences that support dignity, independence and quality of life.
2025 Inside Ageing Future of Ageing Awards | Winner – People and Culture
RFBI, in partnership with Macquarie University, was named a winner in the People and Culture category at the 2025 Future of Ageing Awards.
Project Thrive addressed a critical challenge in aged care: burnout among carer staff. To tackle this issue, the project delivered a sustainable, multi-level capability-building program designed to help managers and employees recover from burnout. 2025 HESTA Excellence Awards | Finalist – Individual Leadership
RFBI staff member Kerry Curran from RFBI West Wyalong Masonic Village was named a finalist in the 2025 HESTA Individual Leadership Excellence Award. Kerry was recognised for her leadership, attention to detail and commitment to service excellence. Her work supports resident wellbeing through care, respect and meaningful engagement.
2025 Ageing Australia You Are ACE! Awards | Individual Finalists
RFBI was proud to have three staff and volunteers named finalists in the 2025 Ageing Australia You Are ACE! Awards.
Kerry Curran was recognised in the Individual Consumer Focus and Care category, with volunteers Marilyn Hobbs and Gary Hollier finalists in the Individual – Volunteer category.

2021 HESTA Outstanding Organisation (Aged Care) Award
RFBI received the HESTA Outstanding Organisation (Aged Care) Award for our Mental Moments Show, a week-long show designed to highlight the importance of mental health for aged care professionals. Read more about the virtual awards ceremony here.
2019 ACSA NATIONAL ‘Provider of the Year’ Award
RFBI was named Australia’s best aged care provider by our peak body ACSA in October 2019. Competing against all other state winners, RFBI’s innovative approach and high quality care and services made us stand out, and above, the rest. Read more about the awards night here.
2019 Rank #4 on AFR BOSS ‘Most Innovative Companies’ List and ‘Winner of Best Innovation’
Competing against some of the best organizations within Government, Education and Not-For-Profit, RFBI ranked #4 in the AFR Boss Most Innovative Company List for our category. RFBI also took home the ‘Best Innovation’ Award for our category, recognizing the great care and commitment everyone right across RFBI demonstrates to ensure our residents and clients are able to live the best life possible. 2019 7th Asia Pacific Eldercare Innovation Awards
RFBI was a finalist in the “Innovation of the Year – Food and Nutrition” category for our Dining with Dignity Program and was the only Australian organisation in the final 5 entries. Read more about it here.
2018 SoupedUp Hospitality & Lifestyle Aged Care Awards
2018 Hospitality Manager Award National Winner – Lindy Twyford, RFBI
Lindy Twyford, RFBI Hospitality Manager and valued staff member for 27 years took home the National Hospitality Manager Award. She was honoured for her outstanding contribution to RFBI’s catering services and ability to lead and inspire our catering teams across all 22 RFBI Residential Care Villages.
Paulette Millgate, Hospitality Officer at RFBI Dubbo Masonic Village, was named National Laundry Service Individual for the high quality laundry service she has established at this Village. Her person-centered approached to ensuring every resident gets their clothes laundered the way they like is in line with the RFBI philosophy of excellent customer service and consumer directed care.
2018 Finalist for Catering Innovation Award Finalist – RFBI
With the introduction of 2 innovative dining aids, we have made a difference to our residents dining experience at RFBI. New crockery that includes ‘invisible’ assistance and new fashionable clothes protectors, designed to look like a scarf or lapel cover have improved our resident’s quality of life both physically and mentally. 2018 Finalist for Facility Event/Theme Day Award – RFBI Lake Haven Masonic Village
As part of a positive ageing campaign, RFBI Lake Haven Masonic Village put on a successful fashion show and photoshoot during Fashion Week 2018. The purpose of this event was to celebrate their unique style and engage all residents regardless of their limitations. Read the whole story here.
