Father’s Day is always a special day at Royal Freemasons’ Benevolent Institution (RFBI) as we celebrate the wonderful dads in our villages. This year RFBI Coffs Harbour Masonic Village had the chance to recognise our resident and ‘village artist’, Bob Gibson.
Bob, who is now 94 years old, moved into our Village in 2005 and has made quite an impression with his phenomenal artworks that can be seen throughout the Village. As well as being a talented artist, Bob is an inspiration to all as the longest living diabetic in Australia. On the 7th April, 2016 Diabetes Australia presented Bob the Kellion Victory Award to commemorate his 80 year battle with Diabetes. His determination and positive attitude has ensured he has never stopped living his life to the full.
Bob has one daughter and many grandkids and great grandkids. Although Bob does not get to see his grandkids very often, it is always a special occasion when he does. “It’s a pleasure seeing my grandkids and I couldn’t be prouder of them” says Bob.
“Bob is an outstanding individual with a big heart and always has a smile on his face” boasts Martin Bunyan, General Manager. “He is an inspiration to our Village and we are proud to call him a part of our family”.
On Friday 20 and Saturday 21 June RFBI villages joined aged care providers around Australia in celebrating the inaugural National Open Day, a day to celebrate quality services to support the ageing population.
The Aged Care Emergency (ACE) service is a multi organisational approach to enable older Australians in residential aged care facilities to be able to receive the right health care in the right place.
In the past week three of our lovely residents have celebrated their milestone birthday, reaching 100 years of age. Each facility held a party for the centenarians to show our congratulations.
