Residential care beds: 62
Retirement living units: 18

Tamworth Masonic Village operates residential care, including Lyall Green Lodge for dementia patients.

Dating back to 1885, Cottage Homes arose from a concept by Mrs S.C. Stewart and Mrs S. Joseph as the Ladies Benevolent Society. In 1999 a major overhaul of the Homes was undertaken, and later that year Cottage Homes was officially opened, conducted by the Patron of NIMAC, Rt Hon Ian Sinclair.

In 2003, the Royal Freemasons’ Benevolent Institution of NSW announced a further 15 room extension to the cottage homes hostel, to be named Lyall Green Lodge, in recognition of his outstanding contribution to masonic aged care in Tamworth. In late 2004, Mr Tony Windsor, MP, officially opened Lyall Green Lodge.

RFBI Tamworth Masonic Village has 26 bedrooms for residential care. The Lyall Green wing is exclusively for dementia residents, and has 15 bedrooms.

All our bedrooms have electric beds and en suite bathrooms, and all are fitted with ceiling fans and evaporative air conditioning. All bedrooms have a nurse call system and movement activated sensors.

We have a spacious lounge room and dining room, as well as laundry and clothing label facilities. All communal rooms within the Village have reverse cycle air conditioning. We are also lucky enough to have native landscaped gardens for the enjoyment of our residents.

Payment options

As of the 1st July 2014, new residents have greater choice on how to pay for their accommodation costs. These choices include;

  1. Residents can choose to pay for accommodation by a refundable deposit (RAD) paid as a lump sum,
  2. A daily payment (DAP), or
  3. A combination of both

A daily payment accrues daily and is paid periodically (e.g. fortnightly). A combination payment includes both a partial lump sum and daily payments. As RFBI offers a variety of accommodation options and prices we encourage you and your family to discuss your needs with a financial adviser to ensure that you are receiving the best financial outcome available to you.

Our published Accommodation Payment prices are our maximum rates and will apply for those with adequate financial means.

Residents with limited assets may be treated as “supported” by the Department of Social Services. This means that you will not be required to pay the published Accommodation Payment. If you are not treated as “supported”, but affordability is still a factor, be assured this will not necessarily affect your eligibility for accommodation.

The Daily Accommodation Payment (DAP) amounts quoted above are current as of today and may change (in line with interest rate adjustments) for entry dates after the 1st July. When there are changes to the interest rate RFBI will update the new DAP’s based on the new quarterly interest rate.
