The RFBI Masonic Village at Lake Haven is made up of the Frank .M. Jeffree Hostel, Stapleton House, and the Lake Haven Independent Living Village.

The Frank M. Jeffree residential care hostel was built across three years from 1988, and completed in 1991. Stapleton House, our Dementia Specific Unit, opened in 1998, and the Independent Living Village was completed in seven stages, the last one being in 1996.

At Lake Haven Masonic Village, there are 43 residential care beds in Frank .M. Jeffree house, 22 beds in Stapleton House, our Dementia Specific Unit; and 158 Independent Living residences (132 units and 26 villas).

Residential Care
Our residential care and dementia specific facilities are air conditioned, and have modern, home like furnishings. They provide common areas for socialisation as well as sitting areas for relaxing and catching up. All meals are cooked fresh onsite and served in the dining rooms. All laundry is carried out on site. Our Residential Care facilities also offer state of the art nurse call and resident monitoring systems.

Independent Living Units
All our Independent living residences have modern home like furnishings, complete with wall to wall carpet, new paint, all light fittings, electric stove and rangehood, air conditioning, security screens and doors. The bathrooms feature easy access shower cubicles, vanity and mirror cabinets. A security intercom is also provided for front door access to foyers. All our units and villas have light filled combined lounge/dining areas and large, modern kitchens. Each has a separate toilet and bathroom and internal laundry. Bedrooms have built in wardrobes. Most units and villas include lock up garages. Ground floor units have comfortable verandas, and on the first floor there are breeze capturing balconies (some boasting panoramic lake views).

We have a full time maintenance team (including gardeners), dedicated to maintaining all our residences, and responsible for keeping the lovely gardens within the Village beautiful.

Payment options

As of the 1st July 2014, new residents have greater choice on how to pay for their accommodation costs. These choices include;

  1. Residents can choose to pay for accommodation by a refundable deposit (RAD) paid as a lump sum,
  2. A daily payment (DAP), or
  3. A combination of both

A daily payment accrues daily and is paid periodically (e.g. fortnightly). A combination payment includes both a partial lump sum and daily payments. As RFBI offers a variety of accommodation options and prices we encourage you and your family to discuss your needs with a financial adviser to ensure that you are receiving the best financial outcome available to you.

Our published Accommodation Payment prices are our maximum rates and will apply for those with adequate financial means.

Residents with limited assets may be treated as “supported” by the Department of Social Services. This means that you will not be required to pay the published Accommodation Payment. If you are not treated as “supported”, but affordability is still a factor, be assured this will not necessarily affect your eligibility for accommodation.

The Daily Accommodation Payment (DAP) amounts quoted above are current as of today and may change (in line with interest rate adjustments) for entry dates after the 1st July. When there are changes to the interest rate RFBI will update the new DAP’s based on the new quarterly interest rate.

Activities and Lifestyle

Our philosophy is to provide care and assistance to our residents, with respect for their dignity, privacy and independence. We offer a way of life in which residents can participate as much as they choose, in activities both within the Village and in the broader community.

At Lake Haven Masonic Village, our residents pride themselves on their community spirit, and have set up an Amenities Committee, which encompasses the Social Committee and New Resident Welcoming Group. As a result, many of our residents believe that they have a better social life now than when they were younger.

We have an onsite community hall, which is used for: fashion parades, movies, parties, meetings, concerts, choir practice, family functions and so on. We also have an onsite library and internet kiosk.

Our residential care facilities have individual activity programs designed to suit residents individual needs – they include: concerts, bingo, craft, discussion groups, movement to music, sing-a-long, movies, bus trips, shuffleboard, dances, high teas, choir and games.

We have an onsite Men’s Shed, which is open to all male residents in the Village. Men are involved in woodwork, leatherwork, toy making and social functions.
