Retirement Living Units: 45

In 1983, an area of vacant land in Dubbo was granted to St. Vincent de Paul, Girl Guides and the Royal Freemasons’ Benevolent Institution. Later that same year ten, one bedroom units and a community hall were built on the Dubbo Masonic Village site. A Legacy Village comprising of 16, one-bedroom units was constructed on an adjacent block of land. Between 1989 and 2001, a further 19 units were built, all being two bedroom.

Recent developments have included the addition of solar panels to all 29 of our units in 2011. In the same year, RFBI also purchased the Legacy Village, meaning Dubbo Masonic Village now houses a total of 45 Independent Living units. We also own additional land close by should the need for further units arise.

At Dubbo Masonic Village, we offer a mixture of one and two bedroom units. All our units are in a duplex set-up, and all have their own laundry. The units are well designed, with a living/dining area, bedrooms with built in cupboards and a well appointed kitchen. A number of the 1-bedroom units have a carport, and all the 2-bedroom units offer a lockup garage. The garages have roller shutters and an internal door for easy access to each villa. Some of the units have solar panels and natural gas. There are safety screens on outside doors and windows. Each villa also has a vital call service available for emergencies.

The village prides itself of some beautiful gardens and is home to some rare plant species.

Activities and Lifestyle

Dubbo Masonic Village provides a harmonious atmosphere and the residents committee actively support the management to function effectively. The residents coordinate and meet twice a week for a range of indoor activities, which allows them to spend time together and learn new skills. These include; craft activities, high tea, and celebrations of special events such as Anzac Day and Melbourne Cup.

We have a village hall, which is used by all our residents. The hall offers a comprehensive library, as well as space for functions such as Christmas and Melbourne Cup day functions. It is also used by our card playing groups. Organisations such as Probus, Day and Evening View Clubs regularly meet in the village hall, and welcome the participation of our residents.

We recently held a garden competition, which brought out the keen gardeners, as well as enhancing the community spirit in the village.

For those of our residents who do not drive, a bus service runs past the village frequently to serve most of the city area.
