The Royal Freemasons’ Benevolent Institution Extended Aged Care at Home (EACH) program is a planned and coordinated package of community care services. It enables older people with higher care needs to remain living in their own homes with care and community support. EACH is a flexible, high quality package, designed to help maintain independence and quality of life for older Australians.

The packages are targeted at frail older people living in the community who would otherwise be eligible for admission to a Nursing Home.

Those wishing to obtain an EACH package will need to be assessed by the Aged Care Assessment Team.

Hawkins Masonic Community Care, based at Hawkins Masonic Village, provides RFBI EACH packages in the Newcastle area. We successfully applied for 10 EACH packages in 2010, and Hawkins Community Care commenced EACH packages in April 2011.

Types of service

EACH is an individually tailored program, which assists the older person to remain at home, with a flexible, high quality package to maintain their independence and quality of life. The services currently provided include:

  • Personal care, including domestic assistance and meal preparation
  • Medication management, and assistance with oxygen and/or enteral feeding
  • Shopping and other social support
  • Transport to medical appointments or social outings.

Hawkins Masonic Community Care is based at Hawkins Masonic Village in Edgeworth, and we service the East Lakes local government area. This covers Charlestown to Swansea in the south and includes suburbs such as Eleebana, Belmont, Redhead, Marks Point and Valentine.
