Other Information

Residential Care Beds: 45
Retirement Living Units: 21

Construction of the RFBI Bathurst Village started in 1987, and 13 independent living villas were initially built. Due to high demand, a further eight independent living villas were completed in 1992.

The residential care home was opened in 1993, and at that time offered ten rooms. Further demand saw the care home extended by 20 rooms, completed in 2003.

The first resident was given the honour of naming the facility, and chose Cheriton, the name of a village in England, their homeland.

At Bathurst Masonic Village, we offer a total of three one bedroom apartments and eighteen two bedroom apartments. There are four upstairs apartments in the independent living units, with electric stair lift access, as well as stairs. Our units are all carpeted, and have a vital call service for emergencies. We also offer a number of lock up garages and carports with the villas.

Our residential care is all on one level, to provide ease of access. All laundry and cooking is done on site. Each room has its own ensuite bathroom, and many have private balconies and access to garden courtyard with its undercover barbecue area.

The residential care home also has a separate kitchen for use of resident’s visitors. We offer four lounge areas and two dining rooms, and all common areas are fully air conditioned.

The site is fully landscaped and many residents plant lovely gardens.

Payment options

As of the 1st July 2014, new residents have greater choice on how to pay for their accommodation costs. These choices include;

  1. Residents can choose to pay for accommodation by a refundable deposit (RAD) paid as a lump sum,
  2. A daily payment (DAP), or
  3. A combination of both

A daily payment accrues daily and is paid periodically (e.g. fortnightly). A combination payment includes both a partial lump sum and daily payments. As RFBI offers a variety of accommodation options and prices we encourage you and your family to discuss your needs with a financial adviser to ensure that you are receiving the best financial outcome available to you.

Our published Accommodation Payment prices are our maximum rates and will apply for those with adequate financial means.

Residents with limited assets may be treated as “supported” by the Department of Social Services. This means that you will not be required to pay the published Accommodation Payment. If you are not treated as “supported”, but affordability is still a factor, be assured this will not necessarily affect your eligibility for accommodation.

The Daily Accommodation Payment (DAP) amounts quoted above are current as of today and may change (in line with interest rate adjustments) for entry dates after the 1st July. When there are changes to the interest rate RFBI will update the new DAP’s based on the new quarterly interest rate.

Activities and Lifestyle

Our management and staff teams recognise that the care of the aged is a specialised area, requiring a multi-disciplinary approach in the assessment of each individual’s unique biological, psychological, spiritual and social needs.

Individually, residents are provided with appropriate levels of care as indicated by regular assessments in terms of their own needs. We seek to provide a true homely atmosphere for the residents to enjoy a fulfilling experience and a lifestyle that constantly provides dignity and individual meaning for them.

Residents are encouraged to relate with each other in a group atmosphere commensurate with their needs and abilities and have the opportunity to exercise their choices and their rights in appropriate areas.

We have a community hall, which is used for meetings, games and other organised activities. The village also has a bus, allowing residents the freedom to organise regular, varied outings. A podiatrist and hairdresser also visit the hostel regularly. We have an activities officer five days a week, who works with the residents to design a program of events and activities. Activities include craft, quizzes, carpet bowls, bingo, visiting musical groups and movies. Residents may also play computer games or help with gardening in the raised garden bed.

The facility bus has wheelchair access and outings are a highlight of the activities program.

Local Information

The village is located close to the centre of town and some residents regularly walk to the shopping centre. For those who do not wish to walk, a bus stop is conveniently located in front of the Village.

The Bathurst Base Hospital and Bathurst Railway Station are both within two kilometres of the Village.

Bathurst is famous internationally for the V8 Supercars race, held annually in October, which is a focal point for the entire town. Bathurst is a major regional centre, and as such offers all the facilities you would expect, including medical facilities, shops, cafes and restaurants, hotels and motels.
